The new game will be a sprawling experience

A few hours still keep us from the debut of the Star Wars Battlefront gameplay video, but it seems that the embargo on gameplay information has lifted, as quite a lot of different details have appeared concerning the 40-player Walker Assault mode, as well as the other surprises, such as a playable Darth Vader.

Star Wars Battlefront has existed, as a series, for quite some time, as the original games made by Pandemic generated a cult following and entertained many back in the 2000s. Unfortunately, since the studio was shut down and LucasArts went through leadership problems, no new titles have appeared in the series.

Currently, Electronic Arts has tasked its DICE studio, the creator of the Battlefield series, to bring forth a reboot called, what else, Star Wars Battlefront.

The game receives some actual details

After seeing a few leaked sequences, not to mention tidbits of information in recent days and weeks, the embargo on actual details and impressions has lifted, and GameInformer brings a big chunk of data about the new shooter.

First up, it seems that only one main multiplayer mode of Star Wars Battlefront was revealed by EA and DICE, in the form of Walker Assault. This is a huge 40-player experience that, in this situation, took place on Endor. It saw players take on the roles of Rebel soldiers or Imperial Stormtroopers, and even featured hulking machines like an AT-ST, AT-AT, and more.

Offline missions and aerial dogfights are included

The studio confirms that, besides some sprawling multiplayer modes, Battlefront does feature single-player offline missions that take place across different iconic locations in the franchise, from Hoth to Tatooine and others. However, a full-fledged story campaign is unlikely.

Aerial dogfights between X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and other ships are also promised but they won't take place in space, unfortunately, only in the atmosphere of different planets.

One key feature rewards players who explore the environments with power-ups, and some include controlling Darth Vader and his impressive Force powers against enemies. It's unclear just what exactly players will have to do to get them, besides finding them in the map, so expect more details.

Last but not least, it seems that, while Star Wars Battlefront can be played as a first-person shooter, fans can swap to a third-person perspective almost at all times.

Star Wars Battlefront is coming out on November 17 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Until then, check out some fresh screenshots below.
