Media conglomerate Disney says that its acquisition of LucasFilm Ltd and the Star Wars franchise includes the assets of LucasArts, the division of the company involved in creating video games based on the movie universe.

Disney has a gaming division that focuses on social experiences to support its other products and the resources of LucasArts will presumably be used for the same goal.

At the moment, the company is working on Star Wars 1313, a new video game that is set on Coruscant and is designed to offer a more gritty take on the universe without including Jedi as playable characters.

George Lucas, the current chief executive officer at LucasFilm, is quoted by Venture Beat as saying, “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.”
