In popular culture, there are certainly a lot of iconic franchises that have gathered a huge number of fans all around the world. From titles like Star Wars to The Simpsons, such series spanned different entertainment mediums and delivered some of the best experiences in the world.
One very popular example is Star Trek, which started off as a tongue-in-cheek TV series documenting the travels of the space ship Enterprise and its crew. Since then, it has been entertaining many generations and delivering some unforgettable moments in various spin-offs and even video games.
Speaking of games, one of the more recent ones is Star Trek: Tactical Assault, developed by Quicksilver Software and published by Bethesda Softworks for the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS. It appeared in North America on November 14, 2006, and then in Europe on December 1.
Set to focus on space battles in the Star Trek universe, the game delivers two fully playable campaigns, one under the banner of the Federation, the other serving the Klingon Empire. Each battle will see the player take command of a warship and engage the enemy until only one is left standing.
The Wi-Fi features of the DS weren't neglected by the developers, as the Multiplayer modes are extremely well polished, featuring a Skirmish and Wireless Multiplayer variants. The AI is the main opponent in skirmish, while the wireless connection allows players to duke it out one against another in the other mode.
The game received fairly positive reviews, but didn't make a very decent impression on players, who were used to more aggressive combat simulators. But fans managed to get a decent experience out of it, meaning that sales were pretty good.
