The development team at Cryptic and publisher Perfect World have announced that the MMO Star Trek Online players will get access to new content on February 11, under the name Episode 4: The 2800.

The number refers to the amount of ships that the Jem’Hadar inhabiting and dominating the Gamma Quadrant of the Galaxy have managed to assemble in order to attack Deep Space Nine and then take the war to the Federation.

In the MMO players will need to rush to the aid of Deep Space Nine and face the 2800 ships in huge in-game battles before venturing into the new space on their own.

Star Trek Online has been seen as a possible rival to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft when it launched, but the game was plagued by bugs and lacked enough content to keep players occupied in the long term.

The game was then since gone free-to-play and has added more content and more options for players to explore.
