With just a couple of weeks before the first official trailer for J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated “Star Trek” sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness” premieres in IMAX, 3D theaters, an official synopsis has emerged online, Slash Film reports.
Though extremely brief (and vague), the description is traced back to Paramount, so we can all breathe easy knowing that it’s official.
Without further ado, here goes:
“When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.”
“With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”
The importance of the release of the synopsis is obvious for all Abrams fans, because the director is famous for keeping most details about his films under wraps until he has no other choice but to release them.
Judging by this, the time has come.
“Star Trek Into Darkness” is scheduled for theatrical release in May 2013.
