If you live in the US and had made plans to catch J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness” on the first day of theatrical release, May 17, today is a good day for you: the release date has been moved up by 2 days.

Fans in North America will now be able to catch what is billed as the most anticipated release of the year starting May 15 in IMAX 3D theaters.

Moreover, IMAX Entertainment announces in a press release, you can already purchase your ticket, by using the Star Trek Into Darkness app from the App Store and Google Play.

“As we saw with the reaction to the first nine minutes of the film, which debuted in our theatres in December, fans are clearly excited by the opportunity to see this epic film come to life in IMAX,” Greg Foster, chairman and president of IMAX Entertainment, says.

“We're thrilled to work with our long-standing partners at Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures to offer audiences an opportunity to see J.J. Abrams' masterful interpretation two days early in the world's most immersive format – IMAX 3D,” Foster adds.
