Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that the upcoming Star Fox for Wii U will be playable at this year's edition of the E3 trade show.

The news comes from an interview with Smosh, where Miyamoto has revealed that the upcoming game will use the Nintendo Wii U's GamePad as the ship's cockpit view, while the TV screen will display the ship from a third-person perspective.

He has added that the issue is one that comes up a lot in community discussions, because of the Wii U's unique setting, and gamers always ask how the GamePad is going to be utilized in upcoming games.

Players will be able to make use of the cockpit view when things get serious and they want to be at the top of their game when battling an enemy.

"One of the things that we're doing is, often times in games you have the cinema scenes where it's a movie that's playing and you have to just sit back and watch. There's no gameplay. But because we have the GamePad with the second screen, what we can do is have these cinematic sequences in the game where you're still able to look around and play," Miyamoto tells Smosh.

Players will also be able to switch to the traditional mode of playing Star Fox, which means that the GamePad cockpit view is just an option meant to enhance the experience.

A lot of exciting stuff for the Wii U

For the time being, the company has not revealed Star Fox to the public, but it looks like E3 attendees will be able to get some hands-on time with the dogfighting game.

Star Fox for Wii U will be the sixth installment in the series, resuming it after a nine-year hiatus.

Star Fox for Wii U is expected to come out sometime later this year. Miyamoto mentioned a while back that the game would be out before the next installment in the Legend of Zelda series, also expected on the Wii U sometime later in 2015.

Nintendo teased Amiibo support for both games, but for the time being, we are waiting for an official announcement.
