Gamers can get a new repair drone and a new full shop

Chris Roberts, the leading developer working on the space simulation Star Citizen, says that he has updated the crowdfunding effort for the game with a number of new stretch goals in order to better reward those who contribute to the creation of his project.

On the official funding page he says, “They were broad design concepts that we needed additional funding to achieve. But quite frankly, they weren’t much fun for you and didn’t have enough concrete data.”

He adds, “So, we’ve heard you: our backers deserve a stretch goal system that isn’t just about game design but about rewarding our incredible community.”

The team plans to honor the pledges towards already announced goals, but it strongly encourages gamers to contribute for the new stretch goals in order to add more mechanics to the game.

When the Kickstarter project surpasses 750,000 dollars (579,000 Euro) in backing, all those who pledged money will get a class I repair bot called the AMX-1 when they start the game, increasing their chances of surviving in the hostile universe of the game.

If the even more ambitious goal of 2.5 million dollars (1.93 million Euro) is reached, then Space Citizen will get an entirely new ship for players to use.

It will be called the Anvil Gladiator and will represent a civilian take on a military bomber, which means that it can use the most advanced antimatter torpedoes in the game while also carrying two turrets to ensure protection from fighters during attack runs.

Another set of goals are currently locked on the Kickstarter page and will presumably be revealed as fans supporting the game donate money and get close to the required sums.

Those who are interested in Space Citizen are able to pledge money to it until November 19.

The game will be launched for backers during 2013 and the public will probably get it during the following year.
