14 DAY TRIAL // The developers from Cloud Imperium Games have stated that a new design and modding competition will be available for Star Citizen fans to create their own starships starting from October 31. The contest called “The Next Great Starship” will last until December 31 and have as main prize $30,000 / € 22,135.
Those that want to register must know that the first challenge consists in making a fully designed wave particle cannon, submitted via Youtube, and that their work will be judged by Chris Roberts, as well as other members of the CIG team.
Besides that, you will be happy to know that a few celebrities will also be judging, their names soon to be given.
Only 16 of the entries will make it, and out of those 16, one will be voted on by Star Citizen Backers. Afterward, these 16 teams will move on to making their Starships.
Starting from January 31, 2014, people will get the chance to watch episodes of the competition once a week on Roberts Space Industries YouTube channel, where teams will show how far they have come with their design.
The last remaining teams will have to compete in front of the judges as well as the community, this being the final episode that will take place in Los Angeles on June 8.
If you will get second place, the prize will be of $10,000 / € 7378 as well as an Alienware laptop, Autodesk Maya 2014 and AMD Radeon R9 290X while third place will bring team members $5000 / € 3689 plus Autodesk Maya LT and AMD Radeon R9 290X.
