The company is considering a different price than the mathematical one

Microsoft has talked a bit about the upcoming standalone debut of the Kinect 2.0 sensor that will be sold separately from the new 399 USD/EUR Xbox One console, saying that it's yet to take a decision about the peripheral's cost but that it probably won't be exactly 100 USD/EUR.

Microsoft launched the Xbox One and its new and improved Kinect sensor last November in 13 countries around the world as part of a single bundle that cost 499 USD/EUR.

Unfortunately for the company, Sony launched at the same time the PS4 at a lower price, 399 USD/EUR, and in more territories, quickly becoming the leader and selling millions of consoles worldwide.

This has now forced Microsoft's hand and the company revealed yesterday that a new Xbox One package, without the Kinect, would be sold starting on June 9 for 399 USD/EUR.

The Redmon-based company also unveiled that a standalone Kinect would be sold separately this fall and has now confirmed to IGN that it's yet to nail down the price of the sensor.

However, Microsoft's Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that "the price probably won’t be exactly $100 (€100)."

You can expect Microsoft to sell the peripheral for a higher price, probably around 120 USD/EUR, just like the current Kinect for Xbox 360, or even higher, to differentiate it from the old model.
