Details in the case of Joan Rivers' passing are coming out very few and far between. Meanwhile, people are taking her demise rather badly, because, despite the fact that Rivers was 81 at the time of her death, many actually expected her to pull through.

TMZ now reports that the staff from the private clinic in Manhattan where Rivers went into cardiac and respiratory arrest are getting phone calls and death threats. The clinic was named in the news several days ago as the Yorkville Endoscopy center, and as soon as Joan's death was announced yesterday, people began lighting up the phones.

The police has been informed of the matter, and they claim that the phones have been ringing off the hook with messages such as “If Joan dies, so will you” and “I hope you people die, you killed an icon.”

In order to counter this, the clinic has been closing early for the past couple of days and has also hired some extra security just in case someone decides to carry out their threats. The clinic has already come under review by the NY Health Department, although not in the form of an official investigation.

So, as far as the authorities are concerned, there is still no one to blame over the incident. People are reacting, or rather overreacting to the news, without having the whole picture and based only on a number of the facts.

Joan's family has denied the reports that they were seeking to sue the clinic for what has been termed a “botched surgery,” and this indicates that they aren't holding the doctor who performed the operation as the guilty party.

The comedienne Rivers was undergoing a simple throat surgery that was meant to fix some damage to her vocal chords, but something went wrong and she went into cardiac and respiratory arrest. Soon after, an ambulance was called and she was taken urgently to the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she remained until the time of her death.

Today it has emerged that it was her daughter Mellisa who decided to pull Joan off the life support machines, after she had shown no improvement on her condition since Thursday. Rivers was said to have passed away “gently, surrounded by friends and family.”

Keeping that mind, a full investigation is expected to commence very soon, given the impact Joan Rivers' death had on the media and the people involved. The authorities will certainly want to get to the bottom of this and see if anyone was at fault for Rivers' demise.
