George Clooney, one of the most desirable bachelors in Hollywood, is on the market again. He and Stacy Keibler, whom he’d been dating for the past couple of years, called it quits several weeks ago, a friend of the former couple says for People magazine.

Breakup rumors started making the rounds with more intensity than ever yesterday, with an unnamed insider confirming them for the aforementioned celebrity publication.

However, this time, it wasn’t George who decided it was time to go their separate ways, as Stacy pulled the plug on the romance.

The reason was precisely what you might imagine, assuming you’ve been keeping up even a bit with gossip about Clooney’s love life.

“Stacy called it quits. She wants to have children and a family someday. She knows where George stands on that,” says the source.

“They talked and they quietly stopped being a couple several weeks ago,” the insider explains, adding that the two remain friends.

“They talk every day. They were friends before they started dating and they'll be friends after. It was a friendly [breakup],” adds the spy.

Another source tells the mag that, these past few months, Stacy and George had been spending a lot of time apart because of their busy schedules.

When word got out that they spent 4th of July many miles apart, tongues started wagging about how this could spell the end, for good this time.

Be that as it may, different sources tell TMZ that the two are still together, even though the romance is one foot in the grave. They just haven’t called it quits yet but it’s a matter of time until they do.

“Our sources say George and Stacy haven't been in the same place for months now because she's busy shooting her new show ‘Supermarket Superstar’ and George is busy being a giant movie star. We're told the distance has caused the two to grow apart... and it seems like hope is fading fast,” the e-zine writes.
