Might arrive in June at AT&T

Mobile phone maker Motorola is reportedly preparing the launch of a new device running under Google's Android operating system, this time around a handset that sports a square form factor, and which should arrive on the market under the name of Motorola Flipout. While mobile phones with square form factors did make it into the wild before, this time around the interesting part of the equation is that Android 2.1 has been thrown into the mix, giving another perspective of the deal.

The said device made it into the wild on HDBlog.it (via mobilecrunch), and is expected to arrive on the market with Motorola's BLUR solutions on top of Google's mobile operating system. One thing that is certain here is that, in case the rumor pans out, the phone will be able to provide a great experience to users, and those who currently own a device with MOTOBLUR (such as T-Mobile's Cliq XT, Verizon's Devour, or AT&T's Backflip) know what this is all about.

The specifications list of the new device reportedly includes a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 3.1-megapixel photo snapper, 512 MB of ROM and 256 MB of RAM, meant to complement the 700 MHz processor that powers the device, built-in GPS receiver, and a QWERTY keyboard. Although it hasn't been specifically mentioned, the phone should also come with a microSD memory card slot, so as to offer users the possibility to add more storage space into the mix.

Other details on the Android-based square Motorola Flipout are missing at the moment, though it might not be too long before more info on it emerges. It seems that the new mobile phone is set to make an appearance on the United States market sometime in June, and rumor has it that it might land on AT&T's airwaves, though confirmation on this matter is still expected. The handset should arrive in three color versions, it seems.
