The company might make a bid for it

Eidos Interactive is quite a popular company these days, not with fans, as they haven't received Tomb Raider: Underworld with wide-open arms, but with other companies, which are interested in buying the British developer and publisher of games.

We've already reported on the fact that Electronic Arts and Ubisoft might make a bid for the European company, but no official statements were released. Eidos is currently going through a difficult period, as the financial crisis has really taken its toll on it and the possibility of a sellout is looking more and more tempting for the company stock holders.

Now, as MCV reports, it seems that major Japanese gaming company Square Enix is also interested in the European developer and publisher. The Asian company, famous for the popular Final Fantasy series, has expressed on several occasions that it wants to become a worldwide leader in the game industry and will make great efforts in order to reach this goal.

Although this latest piece of information is still speculation, Yoichi Wada, the president of the company, has made a visit to IO Studios, one of the development teams owned by Eidos, responsible for the very popular Hitman franchise, which generated a lot of income for the European company. Also, the site reports that Wada is scheduled to visit the UK in order to make an official bid for Eidos.

But now it seems that Square Enix isn't the only one interested in Eidos, because rumors also state that Warner Bros, a company that already holds shares for the European developer, might make a bid for the rest of them.

All in all, it definitely seems that a bidding war might start. Let's just hope that it will all be for the best for Eidos and that the winner of this battle will continue to invest in it and deliver great games to the customers.
