Video game publisher Square Enix has announced that a full team of developers is now working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII and that the team is also working hard on completing Type-0, two of the titles that are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

Yoshinori Kitase, who is one of the producers working on the games in the Final Fantasy series, has confirmed that Versus XIII is in full development at a fan event.

This is great news for the fans of the game, who were dismayed to find out in July that despite being announced at the E3 trade show during 2006 the game was not yet in production from Tetsuya Nomura, who is the director of Versus XIII.

Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy companion piece will not be on display at the Tokyo Games Show and gamers will probably only get more information on the game once the development process has been going for some time.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is a game that blends action and role playing and is not related in terms of story with other entries that are set in the same universe.

The game will apparently use a battle system which is derived from the Kingdom Hearts series and will even have some sequences that are taken from the third person shooter genre.

The main character of Versus XIII is Noctis Lucis Caelum, who is said to be the last heir of a line of kings that are protected a crystal set on an isolated island.

The game will use a number of elements linked to the real world and the developers have said that a lot of the game's fantasy world is based on the reality we are living in, with subtle fantasy influences.

Square Enix has also recently confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is more than 90 percent done at the moment.
