They will be available only through the carrier's stores, it seems

Starting today, Sprint customers interested in the purchase of a Moto X smartphone are expected to enjoy Moto Maker customizations for the device, similar with what customers of other carriers in the United States can take advantage of.

According to an article on Android Police, the mobile phone carrier is planning on selling Moto Maker codes to its customers in stores, allowing them to go online and personalize the device in the matter they best consider fit.

However, there’s a twist to this. Users will need to go to Sprint store both to grab a code, and to claim their customized smartphone when it is ready, it seems.

The move is similar to what AT&T was offering when the handset was launched in summer last year. Users will receive the code via email, and they will be able to go to the Moto Maker web portal to order a Moto X smartphone, which will then be shipped to the store.

Moreover, the codes are said to be available only with the signing of a two-year contract with Sprint, and the carrier’s Easy Pay device installment program won’t be compatible with the deal. Users won’t be able to sign up for device insurance (TEP) either.

All the necessary details on the matter will be available through Sprint’s Moto Maker page later today, so stay tuned for additional info.
