Following HTC's official announcement regarding the handset maker's Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade schedule, Spring confirmed it will deploy the update to HTC EVO 3D and HTC EVO Design 4G smartphones.

In addition, the carrier said that Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be pushed OTA (over the air) to the EVO family phone, as well as other devices in its lineup, in early 2012.

Just like HTC, Sprint does not reveal any exact release dates for the Android 4.0 major upgrade, but states that more details will be announced in due time.

On related news, HTC unveiled earlier today the first wave of smartphones that will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in early 2012.

In addition to HTC EVO 3D and HTC EVO Design 4G, the Taiwanese handset maker will also update the following devices: HTC Vivid, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, and HTC Amaze 4G.

The evo 3d is hardware, this is software. Do you not like the 3d or do you not like android 2.3?

Considering the nature of your comment, you probably can't disassociate the two.

Its pretty simple. The evo 3d hardware is in the top 6 phones right now so if u r
"Not impressed" u r not using the phone to its potential. Perhaps u should look in to an iPhone.

Word, this phone is the bomb, only an Iphone floozy couldn't like it at full potential.

I am not impressed either. I had the Evo before this and upgraded due to the dual core processing power of the 3D. But the screen being smaller is ridiculous and the screen quality is worse. Both my wife and my 3D reset randomly and I've already had to change the ear speaker on my phone due to it blowing out. The touchscreen stops working on occassion to the point where I have to hit the power button twice to wake the phone up again.

Lets see if Icecream Sandwich fixes some of these problems.

what about the EVO, this is one of the most popular Android phones in the last 1.5 years no love for the early adopters? :)

Evo 4G is nearing the end of it's life cycle, they don't care if you bought it yesterday, or launch day. As far as they are concerned you should have updated to a 3D or other by now.
