Mobile phone carrier Sprint is expected to add to its lineup the latest Google phone out there, none other than the Galaxy Nexus smartphone that arrived on shelves with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board.

Apparently, those users who have been expecting the new device to arrive at this wireless carrier won’t have too long to wait from now on.

Rumor has it that Sprint is getting ready to make the mobile phone available for purchase as soon as Sunday, April 15th.

According to a recent article on S4Gru.com, a Sprint source offered details on the mobile phone. However, it appears that there are also suggestions that the device would be set for an April 14th or 15th launch date.

Moreover, the it is said to arrive on shelves with support for the wireless carrier’s LTE network, but the 4G radios would be turned off initially.

The handset will offer 3G connectivity in the beginning. There will also be support for WiFi networks, Bluetooth and the like.

Others suggest that the mobile phone might arrive on shelves with a LTE Discovery Mode, which will enable it to find LTE towers depending on the location, providing users with the fast speeds of 4G right from the start.

Of course, Sprint’s 4G LTE network will be only in its infancy when the Galaxy Nexus arrives, and it does not come as a surprise that the company wanted to make sure the phone delivered the expected performance levels, thus leaving it out of LTE connectivity.

Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus will feature the same specifications as the original, including the curved 4.7-inch touchscreen display, along with its dual-core application processor and 16/32GB of internal storage.

The phone packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a front camera for video calling, GPS receiver, and the aforementioned connectivity capabilities.
