Mobile phone carrier Sprint might add to its offering in the not-too-distant future a new Google phone, most probably the Nexus S smartphone from Samsung, if some of the latest reports on the matter are to be believed.

The company has already put up on its website a page that seems to point in this direction, but no official confirmation on the matter emerged for the time being.

When accessing the said page (via Engadget), one would not see the device, but a message that reads “We're not quite done yet. But come back because this page will be ready soon.”

Moreover, the wireless carrier revealed last week that it would make an important announcement on March 22, and there are great chances that the unveiling might involve the said Nexus S smartphone.

At that time, the operator announced that it “pulls back the curtain with the latest wireless innovation at CTIA.”

This would make Sprint the first CDMA wireless carrier in the United States to carry Google’s Nexus S handset.

The Internet giant promised the availability of its Nexus smartphones on CDMA carriers too, in addition to GSM ones, but none of them was announced as on its way to Sprint, Verizon or other CDMA carriers around the world.

As for this Nexus S on its way to Sprint, rumor has it that, in addition to the usual 3G connectivity, it would also include support for 4G networks, namely WiMAX capabilities.

Provided that the rumor pans out, this device would become the first Nexus smartphone to include 4G connectivity. The currently available Nexus One and Nexus S offer 3G capabilities, but no 4G.

All in all, it appears that the said event scheduled for March 22 at CTIA might be the place to learn more on Sprint's plans on this, so stay tuned to learn the news.
