According to the latest news around the Web, wireless carrier Sprint plans to add to its offering the newly announced HTC Hero, the third Android-powered mobile phone from the Taiwan-based HTC Corporation. It seems that the operator is already testing the device for use on its network, and that it might make it available for its users before the end of the ongoing year.

At the same time, says PhoneNews, the carrier might be on its way to release into the wild a Samsung handset powered by Google's Android mobile operating system. According to some sources within the company, Sprint is testing the CDMA/WiMax device, which would be in line with its already announced plans to launch a tri-mode CDMA/WiMax handheld. Moreover, this device is expected to come to the market sometime between this year and the next one.

In related news, we learn that the carrier, which has the newly launched Palm Pre mobile phone exclusively throughout 2009, will also take orders for the handheld via its telesales department. Those who visit the Palm Pre page on the company's website will be able to see that it clearly states “To order your Palm Pre today, please call 1-866-866-7509.”

However, Sprint hasn't approved yet online ordering for the phone, yet those willing to go for the handset are now able to purchase it through a new option. According to the news around the Web, those who would order their Palm Pre via Sprint's telesales department will have to wait between five to seven days to get their units. At the same time, we should also mention the fact that the carrier is reported to have stated that it expected to see shortages for the Palm in the near future as well.
