Galaxy S II, the latest flagship Android-based mobile phone from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics, is expected to make an appearance on the market in the United States in the not too far future via all major carriers in the country.

Some leaked info on the matter already emerged, but nothing was officially unveiled on it until now, when Sprint's flavor of the device was confirmed as coming to shelves in soon.

Moreover, the name under which the handset would be released was confirmed as well, namely Samsung Within, just as rumored a few weeks ago.

Sprint is not the only US wireless carrier set to launch the new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone on its airwaves, as AT&T and Verizon are expected to make similar moves too.

The only operator which might not launch the Android flagship device would be T-Mobile, tough it is expected to add to its offering other high-end Samsung smartphones.

The specifications list of Samsung Within would be mostly similar with those of Galaxy S II, starting with the large 4.27 inch touchscreen display, and moving to the Dual-core XMM6260, 1.2GHz application processor packed beneath it.

Moreover, the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based device would include 1GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space. The handset also includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, along with support for Sprint's CDMA network, and NFC capabilities. It would also sport microUSB and 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the back, the new device would sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper, with LED flash and auto focus, and with support for full HD (1080p) video recording. It includes a front-facing camera too, for video calling.

Unfortunately, although the availability of this device on Sprint's network was confirmed, no specific info on when it would be released or on the price tag it would sport emerged for the time being.
