Sprint carrier uploaded the changelog for a new WebOS update that is already available for Palm Pre and Pixi owners. It seems that for the moment this is the only carrier that offers this software update to its subscribers, as Verizon Wireless and AT&T are still waiting for this to happen.

Long awaited by Palm fans, the software update mainly bring bug fixes and performance improvements, for Pre and Pixi users.

The 1.4.5 update is automatically pushed by Sprint to the smartphones starting yesterday. If you haven't done the software update we recommend that you do it, as you will be able to download and install a few games and applications from the AppCatalog.

While this change is not mentioned in 1.4.5 update's changelog, users that already installed the update report that a few apps have already popped in the Palm's app feeds (Helicopter and Piano).   All apps require users to install the latest 1.4.5 WebOS, so if you want to experience mobile gaming on your Palm Pre or Pixi device, you should update.

Here is the full changelog of WebOS 1.4.5, exactly how it appears on Sprint's official website:

- Web podcasts download correctly - Correct entry of text on Web - Sprint branded default email signature corrected - Power use and battery optimization - Send video via multimedia messaging from Video application - Video trim feature now works to send in a message - SprintTV upgrade to V 3.5.4 and enhanced parental controls

You probably noticed that most of the changes/fixes mentioned are carrier related, but reports from users highlight the fact that Palm also introduced PDK support, as well as other improvements.

This release comes after four months from the 1.4.1.1 updated, which was mostly limited to fixes and less on adding features or performance improvements.

Let's hope Palm Pre and Pixi users get something interesting for such a long waiting time.
