Mobile phone carrier Sprint announced a few weeks ago plans to bring to its airwaves a new, appealing handset running under Android, none other than the Nexus S 4G smartphone from Samsung.

This would be a special flavor of Nexus S, the second Google phone out there, which would include support for the carrier's WiMAX network, thus expanding the connectivity options that users have while on the go.

The mobile phone was announced about two weeks ago, and already went on pre-order status over at Best Buy.

While Sprint was mum on the phone's exact landing on shelves, recent reports suggest that Nexus S might start shipping as soon as this week, namely on April 6th.

The mobile phone sports a price tag of $199.99 attached to it, when purchased with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

There are only a couple of days left until the rumored release date for the new device, and it remains to be seen whether it would be launched then or not.

In the meantime, we should have a look at some of the specs this device should be released on the market with.

The list includes a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, which hides a fast 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird application processor beneath.

Moreover, the phone comes with 16GB of internal memory, as well as with NFC capabilities, and the aforementioned WiMAX radio for 4G connectivity.

WiFi and Bluetooth were included into the mix too, along with 3G connectivitiy, 3G/4G mobile hotspot capability, a five-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a front-facing camera for video calling.

The Nexus S by Samsung is the very first handset in the world to have been launched with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board.

The Nexus S 4G for Sprint can be seen listed for pre-order at Best Buy here.
