Soon, wireless carrier Sprint might add to its offering a new Android-based mobile phone from LG, one that would sport a sliding form factor, and which was already rumored before.

The mobile phone has yet to make an official appearance into the wild but, before that happens, users can have a look at the first render that emerged with it via Pocketnow.

The upcoming LG Optimus Slider LS700 might land at Sprint with different looks in the end, yet the available mockup is expected to be pretty close to reality.

The smartphone, sporting the codename of Gelato Q, would sport a sliding form factor, though there is no telling for the time being on how the QWERTY keyboard it packs might look like.

Not too long ago, the mobile phone was rumored as being on its way to the airwaves of T-Mobile as well, with a secondary LCD included into the mix, but nothing is confirmed on this for the time being.

The smartphone might arrive on shelves at Sprint with an HVGA display, and might be accompanied by another LG Android device.

Rumor has it that LG and Sprint are getting ready for the launch of two successors for the highly popular Optimus One, with Gelato Q being a slider, and the LG Gelato (supposedly sporting the model number LS685) being a candybar touch-enabled device.

The LG Optimus Slider is expected to become available for purchase via Sprint sometime in September, at least this is what a leaked internal screenshot showed, but nothing has been confirmed on this so far.

In addition to Sprint and T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless is rumored to plan on making the Gelato Q available for purchase as well, and there are also chances that LG could consider releasing it via AT&T too, so as to have an Android mobile phone available for purchase via all major carriers in the country.
