Today, wireless carrier Sprint has officially announced the availability of a new software update for its HTC One M8 smartphone, in the form of Android 4.4.3 KitKat.

The new platform upgrade will be pushed to all owners of HTC One M8 devices at the carrier in stages, which means that some of them might have to wait for several days or longer to receive it.

The new update arrives on handsets as version 2.16.651.4, and will provide users with a series of enhancements specific to Sprint’s network, such as Wi-Fi calling capabilities and an HD Voice icon. The usual set of improvements that Android 4.4.3 was released with will be there as well.

What Sprint hasn’t revealed as of now includes the size of the new update, or how long it will need to push it to all One M8 users on its network. However, we can assume that it won’t take more than a week or so for the rollout to be completed.

As Android Police notes, chances are that Sprint will release another update for this smartphone in about a month, so as to bring the device up to Android 4.4.4 KitKat and to provide users with some more fixes and enhancements.
