Galaxy Nexus, the latest Google phone out there, is nearing its availability on the airwaves of wireless carrier Sprint.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-based phone has just received the necessary approvals from the FCC, which suggests that its release date might indeed be close.

Featuring model number SPH-L700, the device was seen with support for Sprint's LTE band 25, as well as for the wireless carrier’s CDMA and EV-DO networks.

Moreover, the new handset will arrive on shelves with NFC abilities, the same as Nexus S 4G did before it, which means that it will offer support for Google Wallet.

What remains to be seen at the moment is when exactly the new device might arrive on shelves. Sprint is hard at work with the launch of its LTE network, but it might take a while before they make an official announcement on this.
