Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just announced the availability of its 4G services in new markets around the United States, raising the number of areas where users can benefit from the Sprint 4G offering to 68.

The new markets where the company fired up the new services include Los Angeles, Miami, Washington D.C., Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio.

Sprint announced plans to make the 4G services available in some of these markets, such as Los Angeles, in December, but it seems that the carrier managed to launch them earlier than expected.

With Sprint 4G, users should benefit from speeds that are up to 10 times faster than what the 3G network from the wireless carrier can offer (fast mobile downloads, wireless video chat and turbo-charged mobile Web browsing).

There are 68 markets in the United States that can benefit from 4G services from Sprint at the moment, including the six new ones, and more should be added to that list before the end of the year.

According to Sprint, it aims at launching 4G in the San Francisco market – home to Silicon Valley – on December 28th.

“We have witnessed a great demand from our customers for 4G speeds, power and capabilities in these cities already and today they officially have it,” said Matt Carter, president-Sprint 4G.

“We are proud to deliver on our commitment to serve our customers and deliver 4G to more major metropolitan areas in 2010.”

Sprint users can take advantage of the enhanced speeds available on 4G via various devices that their services provider put on sale for them.

The Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless is one of the, offering fast access to Internet for any Wi-Fi enabled device, such as laptops, smartphones, and more.

At the same time, the wireless carrier has two Android-based smartphones that pack support for the 4G network, the HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Epic 4G, both of which also feature support for the carrier's 3G network.

Users can enjoy Internet on-the-go via other devices too, such as the first 3G/4G-embedded netbook and notebook from Sprint – the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (1012) netbook and Dell Inspiron 11z notebook.
