Asurion, one of the leaders in technology protection services, and Sprint have recently announced that the have teamed up to offer customer the chance to subscribe to Sprint’s Total Equipment Protection (TEP) handset insurance program.

Those who are not familiar with Sprint's TEP program, this service is meant to protect against loss, theft, damage, including water damage, as well as out-of-warranty mechanical failure, by quickly sending a replacement phone, usually overnight.

Basically, whenever a Sprint customer that has previously subscribed to TEP program has his phone stolen, lost, damaged or failing, thanks to the Asurion / Sprint partnership, they will be offered another device overnight, which is meant to replace the original handset.

However, this can only happen if the customer in trouble makes a claim by 11:00PM EDT, otherwise the device will be replaced the next day.

We’re excited Sprint customers have this unique opportunity to not only protect their investment, but to also give themselves some peace-of-mind,” said Bettie Colombo, spokesperson for Asurion.

Furthermore, the carrier offers Service and Repair services, which are available at one of Sprint’s 1300 service and repair locations.

Other benefits that a TEP subscriber can enjoy include the following:

- No additional repair costs for in-store services; - Next business day replacements for loss, stolen or damaged claims; - Ability to file claims online with email notification of claim and shipment status; - Extended customer service hours; - The Protection App which allows eligible devices the ability to remotely locate lost devices, erase, backup, manage and restore contacts.

Potential customers can subscribe to the TEP service by paying a monthly fee of $8, per line of service.

It is also worth mentioning that to be eligible in the TEP open enrollment, the customer’s device must be functioning and in its possession.

Every day we see firsthand how many ways someone can lose or damage their mobile device – a mobile device that often costs hundreds of dollars. With Asurion and Sprint, that customer can rest easy knowing a replacement device will be on the way,” added Colombo.

In addition, there is a $50 or $100 non-refundable deductible per approved claim for lost, stolen, or physical or liquid damage, which is based on phone model.
