Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just announced the availability of new software updates for two of its handsets coming from Kyocera, namely the DuraMax and DuraCore.

The new firmware update arrives on both devices with the same version, namely 1.007sp, and packs a variety of enhancements and fixes inside.

The update is available over-the-air for both of these mobile phones. The same as with other handsets on Sprint’s network, the new software update will be delivered to devices in stages.

This means that not all users will receive it right away, though it should not be too long before all of them get the chance to install it on their devices.

According to Sprint, the update for Kyocera DuraMax is expected to arrive on all mobile phones in a matter of days. We can expect the Kyocera DuraCore update to be pushed to all users in the same timeframe.

The release notes for the new Kyocera DuraMax software update 1.007sp include the following:

- Security fix - Roaming Guard changes - Sprint Direct connect enhancements - Support for up to 200 members on TeamDC - One Touch Direct Connect settings - Intermittent missed voice calls - Enabling Commerical Mobile Alert System (CMAS)

To update the mobile phone, users will need to go to Menu > Tools > Phone Info > Update Firmware, which will check for the availability of the update. If the new software is available, users will be prompted to install it.

Owners of a Kyocera DuraCore who will install the new software update on their devices will benefit from the following enhancements:

- Security fix - Enhanced audio - Added Bluetooth capabilities - Mobile Sync client upgradability - Roaming Guard changes - Sprint Direct Connect enhancements - One touch Direct Connect settings - Support up to 200 members on TeamDC - Intermittent missed voice calls - Enable CMAS (Commercial Mobile Alert System)

To update the phone, users will have to make a similar move as on the DuraMax: go to Menu > Tools > Update Phone > Update Firmware.
