Wireless carrier Sprint has just made available for purchase the second mobile phone from Palm that comes to the market with the handset vendor's webOS operating system. Announced quite a while ago, the Palm Pixi is now available for purchase from Srint with the price tag of $99.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after $100.00 mail in rebate.

Compared to the first Palm device that came with webOS on board, the Palm Pre, the new Pixi sports a somehow reduced functionality, and some might even argue that it doesn't have the looks its elder brother does. No sliding form factor here, though users will still get the QWERTY keyboard and a rather decent screen.

The Palm Pixi was put on sale via Sprint yesterday, November 15, and some of you might already know that the handset is also available for purchase through a series of retail partners. Walmart has a very appealing offer for this device, $30 on contract, no MIR included, yet there is even a better deal for those interested in the Pixi. The guys over at Wirefly have it for only $24.99, with no other costs included.

In case some of you are not too familiar with the specs list of Pixi, we should mention that it comes with a 2.63-inch touchscreen display able to deliver a 320 x 400 pixel resolution, as well as support for multi-touch, the aforementioned QWERTY keyboard, a 2-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, Qualcomm's MSM7627 chipset, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP, microUSB connector, GPS receiver, a 3.5mm headset jack, accelerometer, and proximity and light sensors.

At the same time, the new handset also comes with 8GB of internal memory, and with a great deal of multimedia features, including video playback and music, support for SMS, MMS, IM, and email (Exchange ActiveSync, Google push, Yahoo! push, POP3, IMAP), as well as for other services. The phone can be seen on Sprint's website here, while the Wirefly offer is available here.
