Wireless carrier Sprint is starting to make preparations for the release of the first Windows Phone 8-based smartphones on its network, and it has already published a landing page for the platform.

Accessible via this link, said page reiterates what the wireless carrier announced in early January, namely that devices running under Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system will be available for purchase on its network starting with this summer.

More than one such device will be available for purchase for the carrier’s customers, and should deliver support for its 4G LTE network, which made its official debut back in July 2012.

“Sprint plans to offer a pair of Windows Phone 8 smartphones by summer 2013. These initial devices will offer a robust operating system and lots of innovative features, all enhanced by Sprint's Truly Unlimited Data plans, all while on the Sprint network,” the carrier notes on said page.

While no specific info on what Windows Phone 8 handsets will be available at the operator has been provided as of now, the company did say before that it would release Samsung and HTC phones, which suggests that we might see new versions of ATIV S, 8S or 8X launched in summer, as WPCentral notes.

At Sprint, Windows Phone 8 smartphones will include all the features and capabilities that have been packed inside already released devices as well.

The main features of the platform include:

- Live Tiles - Arrange your Start screen just how you want it and see everything that's going on, as it happens. - Live Apps - Only Windows Phone 8 has Live Apps, putting all the information you want right on your Start screen. - Kid's Corner - A worry-free way to share your phone with your kids. - SkyDrive - With SkyDrive, your photos, home videos, and Office documents go wherever you go

Sprint hasn’t registered success with its previous Windows Phone devices, but the new ones might sell well, especially with the new OS loaded on top and with the LTE support inside. Stay tuned for more on this.
