Mobile phone carrier Sprint is getting ready to make some changes to its tablet PC lineup. The carrier is reportedly preparing the launch of a ZTE Optik tablet, and some info on the matter has started to emerge.

Rumor has it that the company might have the new device launched as soon as February 5th, and that it will have it available only through reservations in the beginning.

However, the carrier is also gearing up to have the device available in its retail stores. March 11th is the day when that will happen, rumor has it.

ZTE Optik's specs list shows that it could easily prove a worthy replacement for the EVO View 4G, currently on shelves at Sprint.

It will boast a 7-inch touchscreen display, the same as the older device. However, no specific details on the resolution have been unveiled for the time being.

The tablet PC will sport a 1.2GHz dual-core application processor, along with one gigabyte of RAM for increased performance capabilities.

Moreover, the upcoming device is expected to feature 16GB of flash storage, most probably complemented by a microSD memory card slot to allow users to expand it.

The specs list of the upcoming ZTE Optik tablet PC also includes a 5-megapixle photo snapper with support for video recording, as well as a two-megapixel camera on the front for video calling.

The new device is said to be running under Google’s Android 3.2 Gingerbread operating system. It will also offer support for applications and services that have been designed for the platform.

The tablet PC will sport a 4,000 mAh battery when made available for purchase. However, no specific details on the phone’s network capabilities have been unveiled.

ZT Optik is rumored to feature a price tag of only $100 on-contract, and to have been priced at $350 with no commitment.

We should also note that Sprint is rumored to plan phasing out some of the tablet PCs it currently has on its network, including the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook and the HTC EVO View 4G. Apparently, replacements are already on their way.
