Sprint rolled out a minor update for the HTC EVO 3D only a few days ago, which was said to remove the Carrier IQ software. However, this is not the only smartphone that is delivered with the infamous application.

It appears that Sprint plans to get rid of the Carrier IQ software from all the devices in its portfolio. This is why Samsung Epic 4G Touch will be receiving a maintenance update which is meant to remove the Carrier IQ software from the smartphone.

The folks over at SprintFeed have learned that the software update for the Samsung Epic 4G Touch is expected to roll out before the end of this month. Unfortunately, there are no details on whether or not the update will bring other improvements as well.

In the same news, SprintFeed cites sources close to the matter who claim that Sprint plans to deploy another software update for the original Samsung Epic 4G.

The latest update for the Epic 4G rolled out a few weeks ago and offered owners the long-awaited Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system

However, it appears that the major upgrade proved too much for Sprint, as many users reported sound problems after updating their Epic 4G devices to Gingerbread. Most of these sound issues are rumored to be tied by other audio applications, including SoundHound and Shazam.

The bad news is that the audio bug manifests itself even while the phone is not used. The good news is that Sprint plans to deploy a fix for this issue by the end of the month.

In addition, the folks at SprintFeed report that the update for the Epic 4G will also include an option that will allow owners to remove some of the pre-installed Sprint bloatware.

Although both software updates are expected to arrive by the end of the month, there haven’t been any details regarding the exact release date yet.
