Mobile phone carrier Sprint is the latest wireless services provider in the world to provide its customers with carrier billing options in the Android Market.

Through the launch of this option, Sprint's users would be able to easily purchase new applications from the software portal, and then pay for them on the monthly phone bill they receive from their wireless carrier.

The application portal was already enjoying support from various wireless operators around the world, and it seems that Google is determined to partner with even more of them.

The Mountain View-based Internet giant has been hard at work with bringing Direct Carrier Billing to more Android Market users on operators networks around the world, Eric Chu, Android Developer Ecosystem notes in a recent blog post.

Some of the wireless carriers already offering support for the portal would include T-Mobile and AT&T in the United States. Moreover, the company launched Direct Carrier Billing to users of popular networks in Japan - SoftBank, KDDI, and NTT DOCOMO.

“The momentum continues and today we’re excited to announce that Direct Carrier Billing is now available on Sprint,” Eric Chu continues.

“We've begun a phased roll-out of the service that will reach all users in the next few days. When complete, Android users on the Sprint network will be able to charge their Android Market purchases to their Sprint mobile bill with only a few clicks.”

The new payment option should make the mobile application purchase a much easier process than before, Google notes. Thus, more users would head to the storefront and download new software.

“We believe that Direct Carrier Billing is a key payment option because it lets users purchase and pay for apps more easily. It’s also important because it offers a convenient way to buy in regions where credit cards are less common,” the said blog post continues.

As stated above, Google is also working with more wireless services providers around the world for bringing the new payment option to more Android users around the world. Additional details on the matter will be unveiled in the future.
