Sprint's efforts at improving its earth-friendly conduct while making profit have paid off, since Newsweek's 2011 Green Rankings placed the company on the 3rd position, among the list of enterprises which share green values.

This is a very important achievement for Sprint's officials, since they worked hard to improve their eco-friendly attitude by developing recycling programs. The company doesn't want their customers to just toss their old mobiles into trash containers.

Therefore, it has engaged its efforts into designing a strategy which would allow them to recollect nine of every 10 phones they sell and later on, to recycle them. In order to make this plan work, Sprint has plenty of time, since this initiative's deadline was set for 2017.

This strategy is not new for the company. Sprint started this project in 2010, and it proved to be a successful beginning. In just one year, they managed to achieve a 36% collection rate.

As a goal for the near future, the company's CEO plans to develop and improve this idea further more. Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO recognizes the potential of such a long-term strategy. It turned out to be in favor of the environment and also profitable for the business.

“We have always believed being a more sustainable company is good business. It’s the right thing to do for the company and our customers to preserve our planet,” declared Hesse.

Hesse is very excited about the fact that Newsweek's 2011 Green Rankings placed the enterprise among the best companies that have committed themselves in such green initiatives.

Sprint is certainly improving, if we take into consideration the numbers provided by the prestigious list. According to it, the enterprise managed to outrun its previous performances.

This is the second straight year in which Sprint succeeded to be ranked in the top 10, after last year it was placed on the 6th position.

As future targets, officials state the fact that they intend to develop further more the line of green mobile and accessories. Also, they have in mind a strategy which should draw boundaries in matters such as greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints.

“To be No. 3 on Newsweek’s Green Rankings is an honor. Given the rigorous measurement used by Newsweek, we are proud that our efforts have been recognized. We are committed to building a more sustainable company and will continue our aggressive environmental efforts,” concluded Hesse.
