There are many mobile phones on the market aimed at youngsters or let's say kids at a certain age, but there are none or too few for those under 12.

Some might say that technology should be banned to kids under 12, but more and more parents prefer peace of mind knowing that they can find their children’s location anytime they wish.

US-based carrier Sprint has just announced that it will offer these parents the option of getting their children a mobile phone with both calling and texting, as well as numerous safety features.

Sprint WeGo is a very user-friendly mobile phone that comes with one front button and two side volume keys that can be used to scroll on the LCD screen.

Furthermore, the handset includes a portal which is available both online and through mobile application that will allow parents to locate their child's device on a map.

In addition, the phone allows parents to control some device features, including contacts and set up notifications. WeGo is the perfect tool for communicating and/or tracking your child when you are not around.

According to Sprint, WeGo can be purchased beginning today via carrier's brick and mortar stores. Only existing customers who add a line to their account will be offered the option to grab the WeGo for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $5.

Moreover, those who purchase the handset will also have to pay for the Sprint WeGo Service, which is another $9.99 per month, and includes 1,000 minutes of talk and 1,000 text messages.

It is also worth mentioning that Sprint WeGo allows limited incoming and outgoing SMS texting options, such as the fact that it can only receive text messages from any of the 20 specified contacts.

Sprint WeGo also comes with 50 predefined outgoing text messages options, including Yes, No, I'm at home, I'm at school and so on. This way, your kid will be able to quickly answer your questions without having to type anything.

Other safety features that come with Sprint WeGo include: Parent Notifications, Web Portal access, GPS services, Speed Alert, Wake Alert, 9-1-1 quick dial, and School Hour Silence.

“Sprint offers parents a wide variety of options to help keep their kids safe – from Sprint Mobile Controls and Sprint Family Locator to Content Filtering to the new Sprint WeGo.

Sprint WeGo is the perfect starter phone to give parents peace of mind while teaching kids responsibility – how to keep track of a device, charge it and care for it – at a low price. This device has all of the basics without anything younger children don’t need just yet,” said David Owens, vice president of product, Sprint.
