According to the latest news over the Internet, wireless carrier Sprint plans to officially introduce the HTC Snap on June 21, at least this is what a spokesperson with the company is reported to have stated. As many of you might already know, the handset has been already spotted at Best Buy, and is also available for purchase at Radio Shack with a Sprint contract agreement.

It seems that Sprint has delayed the release of the handset intentionally, so as to be able to accommodate with the launch of the highly anticipated Palm Pre. Even so, those who would like to acquire the Windows Mobile-based handset before June 21 will be able to do so either from Best Buy, where it features a price tag of $519.99 without a contract, or from Radio Shack, for $149.99 after rebates and a new two-year contract.

The new device comes to the market in a candybar form factor, sports a full QWERTY keyboard, as well as a 2.4-inch screen, and, according to Information Week, it will come with Pocket Office preloaded, which should allow users to view Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. Moreover, the handset will also bring push e-mail capabilities, synchronization of contacts and calendar with Microsoft Exchange, as well as support for Web-based mails services such as Gmail and Yahoo Mail.

The hardware specifications of the phone should also attract users, as the Snap should come to Sprint's offering with Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR capabilities, support for Sprint's EV-DO 3G network, built-in GPS receiver, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording functionality, as well as support for microSD memory cards for additional storage space. The most attractive feature of the phone should be the “Inner Circle” button, which shows the messages from chosen contacts at the top of the inbox list.
