For a limited time, Sprint is offering free service credits to customers who bring their number from another carrier and activate a new line.

The network operator has announced that every customer who ports his or her number from another carrier and buys a new smartphone or a feature-phone will get $125 or $50 service credit, respectively.

To get the service credits customers will have to transfer their eligible numbers to Sprint no later than April 16th. This can be easily done online or by visiting any of the participating Sprint stores.

Customers will be able to register for the credit within 72 hours from the moment they activate their new phone and transfer their number from another carrier.

The service credit will show up on the first or second invoice, 60 days after the customer activates the phone. According to Sprint, the credit will show up “as a lump sum within the adjustment section of the invoice” and it will be tagged as “Valued Customer Service Credit.”

In addition to the new smartphone or feature-phone purchased, the offer requires customers to sign a new two-year agreement.

Just bring your number from another carrier to Sprint and activate a smartphone, like the Samsung Epic 4G, on a new line and we'll give you a $125 service credit. Not ready for a smartphone? We'll give you a $50 service credit when you port your number from another carrier and activate one of our other fabulous phones. Either way, you win,” posts Sprint on its official website.

Unfortunately, besides the Samsung Epic 4G and HTC EVO Shift 4G, Sprint doesn't offer other appealing smartphones that could attract customers from other US carriers.

Currently, Samsung Epic 4G can be purchased for $199.99 with a new two-year contract, while the HTC EVO Shift 4G can be bought for $149.99 with a new two-year agreement.
