Wireless carrier Sprint has added some more smartphones to the list of Sprint Direct Connect-capable devices, courtesy of a downloadable application called Sprint Direct Connect Now.

The new piece of software will bring the operator’s push-to-talk service to said phones, allowing more users to take full advantage of the carrier’s network.

Moreover, the wireless carrier notes that the Sprint Direct Connect service is available for users at no additional charge on various service plans, and that they can also choose to use it for an additional $5 per month for other plans.

The new release will provide Sprint customers with the possibility to enjoy the Sprint Direct Connect Now application on Samsung Galaxy S 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, LG G2, LG G Flex, LG Optimus F3, and Kyocera Hydro Edge.

Soon, the service will also be available for handsets such as Samsung Galaxy S 4 Mini, Samsung Galaxy Mega, and Samsung Galaxy S 4 with Sprint Spark, the wireless carrier also announced.

“With Sprint Direct Connect Now, consumers and businesses can easily download push-to-talk service to help mobilize their lives, their businesses, and their workforces,” said John Tudhope, Sprint director Product Marketing.

“Sprint Direct Connect Now is the ideal complement to our portfolio of rugged, military spec Sprint Direct Connect handsets that our longtime push-to-talk customers have grown accustomed to – especially construction workers, manufacturers and emergency workers.”

With Sprint Direct Connect Now loaded on their devices, users will enjoy features such as Sprint Direct Connect on 4G LTE capable devices, TeamDC and Opt-In TeamDC closed group calling, call alerts to notify others you want to talk without interrupting, and interoperability with other supported devices.

Sprint Direct Connect service was also upgraded with support for push-to-talk on Sprint’s 4G LTE Network, additional coverage when compared to the former Nextel National Network, and instant call setup time on domestic push-to-talk calls.

Moreover, Sprint notes that the service also offers international coverage to Latin American countries where the push-to-talk service is used most often. The company also plans on offering SDC Now international capability soon.
