US-based carrier Sprint has just announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport, its own version of AT&T's Galaxy S5 Active.

However, Sprint's Galaxy S5 Sport does not seem to come with military grade certification, as the Galaxy S5 Active does, but it offers IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

Sprint customers will be able to pick this one up beginning July 25 for $0 upfront (plus tax) and with $27.09 monthly payments for two years using Sprint's Easy Pay scheme.

In addition, for a limited time, those who order the Galaxy S5 Sport will also receive $50 off the Galaxy Fit wristband. It's also worth mentioning that customers will be able to choose from two color options: Electric Blue and Cherry Red.

The Galaxy S5 Sport is a Spark-enabled smartphone and comes packed with exclusive apps and services, such as S Health and Activity Zone.

According to the carrier, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport “will serve as the launch pad for Sprint Fit Live, a complete mobile health and fitness package.”

Sprint has also confirmed that its Fit Live service will be available on all Android smartphones in its portfolio beginning this year.

With Sprint Fit Live, users will be able to track, monitor and share workout activity with 12 months of free MapMyFitness MVP, which offers lots of features such as customized audio coaching, training plans and live tracking.

The carrier's service also offers access to Spotify Workout playlists with free Sporify premium for six months for customers who are on Sprint Family plans or three months for other Sprint customers.

“We continually innovate to provide our customers with new products that can improve their lives. Previously, Sprint brought together Harman Kardon, HTC and Spotify to redefine how music should sound on the modern smartphone.

Today, Sprint joins leading innovators in Samsung, Under Armour and MapMyFitness to drive technology advances for fitness, health and wellness,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint chief executive officer.

When it comes to specs, Sprint's Galaxy S5 Sport has the same specs sheet as the standard model. It ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and a powerful 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

It also packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD memory card. Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport boasts one of the best displays one the market, the 5.1-inch Super AMOLED full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
