Recently, wireless carrier Sprint announced the availability of its 4G services in new markets around the United States, namely Minneapolis-St. Paul and Pittsburgh. Through the new launch, the total number of cities where Sprint's 4G services are available was brought up to 55.

Mobile phone users in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Pittsburgh can now enjoy mobile broadband speeds that are about ten times faster than those offered by 3G.

Sprint's 4G services offer faster mobile downloads, as well as video chat capabilities and an enhanced web browsing experience, all courtesy of the carrier's 4G network.

“Since 2008, Sprint has provided customers 4G service and we’re proud to extend our leadership to two more cities today,” said Matt Carter, president of Sprint 4G.

“Sprint is the first national wireless carrier to make 4G a reality for our customers, with Sprint 4G now available in 55 cities across the country.

“Customers in the Twin Cities and Pittsburgh can now take advantage of 4G speeds and devices from Sprint that allow them to turn an iPad into a 4G device, download a presentation or a music file faster, record and watch HD-quality videos and more.”

Customers in cities where the Sprint 4G services are available can enjoy the enhanced speeds on a series of compatible devices, including smartphones like Samsung Epic 4G and HTC EVO 4G, the first WiMAX capable Android-based devices in the world.

“Tourists visiting Minneapolis-St. Paul can snap a photo of the Guthrie Theater, Walker Art Museum or Mall of America with their Samsung Epic 4G and use Google Goggles to pull up facts about each using visual search technology powered by Sprint 4G,” the carrier notes.

Other products are also included in Sprint's offering, such as the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot through which one can share the available connection between a number of up to five WiFi-enabled devices.
