Mobile phone carrier Sprint announced recently that its Sprint 4G service is now available in more markets around the country, including Boston, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Providence, R.I., bringing the number of markets that benefit from 4G to up to 51.

According to the company, the availability of its services in these new areas should offer customers access to faster speeds than before, while enabling them to enjoy streaming video with minimal lag, and turbo-charged Web browsing.

“Sprint is the first national wireless carrier to make 4G a reality for our customers. In particular, it’s rewarding to deliver 4G service to Boston – my hometown. And, we have been hearing from our customers in Boston, Providence and Daytona Beach that they want and need 4G service,” Matt Carter, president of Sprint 4G, announced.

Sprint started offering 4G connectivity to its customers back in 2008, delivering up to 10 times faster speeds than 3G networks can offer.

Sprint customers can benefit from the new speeds on a range of devices that pack WiMAX connectivity, including two smartphones, the HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Epic 4G, as well as the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot and Sprint 3G/4G USB 250U Modem.

HTC EVO 4G is the first Android-based 4G device in the US, powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon and packing an 8MP camera and a large touchscreen display.

Samsung Epic 4G comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, hotspot capabilities (up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices), dual cameras and a Super AMOLED touchscreen.

The Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot offers Wi-Fi connectivity to up to five devics, no matter whether an iPad, Zune HD, Android smartphone or iPhone.

As for the Sprint 3G/4G USB 250U Modem, it can be used to tap into the capabilities of Sprint 4G via any laptop or mobile PC with an USB port.

“Sprint takes value and innovation to customers one step further with the Everything Data Plan, which includes unlimited Web, texting and calling to any mobile in America while on the Sprint network for one low price, and by offering Sprint Free Guarantee to give customers a chance to try 4G for 30 days and be reimbursed if they are not fully satisfied,” the carrier concluded.
