Wireless carrier Sprint announced on Thursday the upcoming availability of a new handset on its airwaves, the Samsung Instinct HD, the successor of Samsung Instinct, available with the operator since last summer. The new mobile phone will become available for purchase for Sprint's users starting with September 27 via Best Buy, and will also come to Sprint's retail channels starting with October 11.

The specification list of the new Samsung Instinct HD includes a 5-megapixel camera photo snapper that boasts video recording capabilities, TV-out HD connection, a virtual QWERTY keyboard, WiFi capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0, EVDO Rev. A connectivity, Opera Mobile 9.7 browser, accelerometer, light and proximity sensors, as well as haptic feedback.

“Samsung Instinct HD ups the ante with the full Opera Mobile 9.7 Web browser, WiFi connectivity and a 5-megapixel camera and camcorder, which allows the user to take high resolution pictures and HD-quality video,” said Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management for Samsung Mobile. “What sets Instinct HD apart even more is the ability to view those pictures and video on your HDTV or other HD-compatible monitor through the device’s HDTV out connection. These improvements raise the Instinct handset portfolio to a whole new level.”

According to Sprint, the Instinct HD is expected to become available via its retail channels for a price tag of $249.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $100 mail in rebate. The Samsung Instinct HD can also be enjoyed with Sprint’s newly announced Any Mobile, Anytime plan, which offers unlimited calling to any wireless phone on any network at no additional charge with a Simply Everything or Everything Data plan from Sprint.
