Stay stylish no matter the temperatures outside

Last autumn, the idea of being elegant, trendy and comfortable without having at least two pairs of gloves seemed almost impossible. The same will still go for this spring as well, with the minor difference that, while gloves continue to be some of the most hip accessories, they will also be more versatile. The oddest and most unique combinations of items are possible again, and we are all encouraged to try them out, stylists say.

The idea behind gloves is, first and foremost, to protect the hands from harsh weather. Useless to say, they can also make for an extremely fancy accessory that can bring novelty and originality to an outfit that could otherwise be deemed nothing out of the ordinary. Moreover, if the idea of wearing gloves when it’s already warm outside horrifies us, we can always go for biker or fingerless ones, stylists add, and be just as stylish as ever.

The real challenge this season will definitely consist of finding it in our heart to settle on just ONE pair from the wide range we have available. From bold neon colors to sequined and punk-style leather gloves, the options before us are practically limitless.

We have leather, lace or suede gloves, fingerless or elbow-long, with the funkiest adornments in chains, beads and even small feathers, or plain, or with cuts and missing pieces. Come to think of it, we even have fingerless gloves that come with only two fingers, for a more rebellious punk-rock look.

Just as varied are the ways in which we can use them to spice our outfit. Of course, we can wear them as they have been initially meant to be worn, that is, to protect our hands on a windy day, with a coat and a hat.

Then again, we can even wear them in summer, matched with evening dresses (elbow-long gloves in neon colors make a beautiful contrasting note with, say, a little black dress), or jeans and a funky top and scarf, or even when powerdressed for a day at the office (pair a suit with leather biker gloves for a change) – all depending on our personality and how far we’re willing to go to make a splash in terms of our fashion choices.

The one thing we should always bear in mind, stylists stress, is that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. As a statement, gloves must be worn when the time is right – donning them on a day-to-day basis will certainly make them look simply plain, and you a fashion victim who doesn’t know when to stop. This out of the way, keep in mind that the perfect pair can truly make an outfit into the one thing all your girlfriends will remember you by.
