The bed is neatly tucked away under the desk, promises a good night's sleep

It is a well-known fact that those living in crowded urban areas quite often find that they simply do not have enough space at their disposal to fit both a bed and a desk in their homes.

Designer Athanasia Leivaditou of StudioNL has decided to solve this pressing problem by creating a so-called transformer desk, which is basically a piece of furniture that allows its owner to use it for two purposes: work and sleep.

As one can easily notice in the picture above, the bed is carefully tucked away under the desk, and by the looks of it, spending several nights sleeping in it would not be a highly unpleasant experience.

According to Tree Hugger, Athanasia Leivaditou has explained her decision to piece together this transformer desk as follows:

“In the competitive environments of the new Metropolis, work almost defines the purpose of existence. Our lives are shrinking in order to fit the confined space of our office.”

I know it all sounds depressing when one puts it like that, but in all fairness, not meeting that pesky deadline can also be a tad upsetting.
