First off, let me just say that those who feel the need to keep replaying the word “cucamelon” inside their heads have nothing to be ashamed of.

Truth be told, “cucamelon” does sound deliciously cute, and I for one could not help but smile when first reading about these peculiar fruits.

Not to beat about the bush, a cucamelon (there goes the smile again) is basically a melon the size of a grape. Sources say that, despite its name, it tastes much like a cucumber.

Apparently, a slight tinge of lime can also be identified when feasting on it.

Cucamelons are native to Mexico and Central America, yet it appears that they are not all that difficult to grow.

In other words, just order some seeds online, and enjoy the perks of having your own cucamelon garden.

“They don’t need the cover of a greenhouse, fancy pruning or training techniques and suffer from very few pests. Sow the seed from April to May indoors and plant out when all risk of frost is over. Give them a support the scramble over, keep well watered and that’s pretty much all you will need to do!” one proud cucamelon grower reportedly wrote on a gardening website.
