The feature is only available in a few European countries as Spotify is still tweaking it

Spotify has finally started to roll out the new Discover features it announced a few months back.

The Discover feature is only available in the UK and Northern European countries. The new tab works for the desktop application of Spotify.

“We know you’ve all been eager to see the discover features rolled out so we just wanted to let you know we’ve begun rolling out the brand new Discover tab to a very small percentage of folks in the UK and Nordic countries on the desktop application of Spotify. We’ll be rolling it out to more customers in the coming weeks,” they said in a blog post.

Discover will be replacing the “What’s New” tab, offering a more interactive layout that reminds us of Pinterest or some Tumblr themes.

It mixes together new releases, trending playlists, songs and music in your area. It also gives you the chance to save music to existing playlists, as well as to create new playlists or to follow those put together by other people.

Basically, it will help users adopt a new following system that allows them to pick up recommendations and playlists from friends. This should aid everyone in discovering new music that they might like.

While the final form of this new Spotify feature is still uncertain since it is still being tweaked, it’s hard to believe that they would be making large modifications, especially since it rolled out the feature.

Spotify is a commercial music streaming service that provides DRM-protected content from a variety of labels, launched back in October 2008. By the end of 2012, the company had 20 million users, out of which 5 million paid a monthly subscription fee.

The service is yet to roll out in all countries, but it is available in numerous states from all over the world. The fact that Spotify is available through numerous platforms is also helpful.
