Spotify has had some big announcements in recent months, it finally launched in the US and it debuted a deep integration with Facebook. But it also had time for the smaller stuff, it recently launched in Denmark and is now available on Boxee, the open source HTPC platform and the Boxee Box, the official device that runs it.

"Today we’re excited to announce that Spotify is available on Boxee," Spotify announced.

"For those of you who don’t know about Boxee yet, it’s a great device that finds many of your favorite shows and movies on the Internet and puts them on your TV. Now you can add music to that list," it said.

"Thanks to the custom Boxee app, it’s never been easier for Premium subscribers to enjoy on-demand access to Spotify’s vast music catalogue directly on their TV,"

As you may have realized, this is only available to Spotify Premium subscribers, which get to access the service on any device they want, well, on any device that it's available on.

Regular paying Spotify users, subscribing to the Spotify Unlimited tier, only get to listen to as much music as they want on their desktops.

The move is a boon for both Spotify and Boxee. Spotify benefits from having its users able to access music in more ways and in more places, enticing more of them to subscribe to the Premium tier.

As for Boxee, it's simple, the device and software benefit from having as much content available as possible, after all, that's what it was built for.

Boxee owners want to be able to watch TV, movies, online video, listen to music and so on their TVs and their living room audio setup, not on the tiny screens of laptops and their even tinier speakers.

Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services out there, so the pairing should be very good news for Boxee owners/music lovers.
