Previously, we reported that your favorite music streaming service, Spotify, might be landing for free on mobile devices everywhere.

So far, Spotify has been available as a free, ad-supported desktop application or as an app on your mobile device. But in order to get access to the website without the adverts, users had to pay a premium fee. This strategy has been dubbed “freemium,” and now the company is applying it to tablets too.

Today Spotify has finally made it official, and tablet users will be awarded “freemium” access to the streaming music catalog regardless of whether they own an Android or iOS device.

“We’re announcing Spotify free for tablets,” Spotify CEO, Daniel Ek said. “It’s the same as what you can access on your computer.”

That’s great news, considering the fact that in the beginning Spotify asked all users to pay fees in order to be granted access to the extensive music library. It also offered offline access, to sweeten the deal. But that’s all in the past, as Spotify enters a new era, where everything is “free for all.”
