Spotify wants to make sure you listen to your music when you’re at home as well, and it’s making things easier by launching Spotify Connect.
The new feature is quite similar to Google’s Chromecast since it can stream content to the dock or home speaker setup over a Wi-Fi network. It can easily be controlled through the service’s mobile apps, The Next Web
This makes it possible for Spotify users to control multiple speaker systems from the same device without worrying about the 3G connection, draining the already short-lived batteries or killing their monthly data package.
Since the new tool allows independent streaming, the mobile Spotify apps can be closed at any time without interfering with the speakers.
The company already has a bunch of partners ready to create devices that come with support for Spotify Connect, including Philips, Pioneer, Hama and Yamaha.
